“For You”, his collaboration with Snoop Dogg and Kemar McGregor, enters the US Rhythmic Airplay chart at No. 39
Beenie Man has returned to Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart for the first time in 20 years, with “For You” entering the latest ranking at No. 39.
The track, credited to Beenie Man, Snoop Dogg and producer Kemar McGregor, gives the Jamaican dancehall veteran his first appearance on the chart since 2006. The Jamaica Observer reported the new entry on September 22.
Beenie Man’s previous appearance came in May 2006 with “Zingy”, his collaboration with AK’Sent. That song reached No. 32 and spent six weeks on the chart.
“For You” is Beenie Man’s sixth career entry on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart. His previous appearances include “Dude” featuring Miss Thing, “Feel It Boy” with Janet Jackson, “Girls Dem Sugar” with Mýa and “Compton” with Guerilla Black. His highest position remains “Feel It Boy”, which reached No. 13 in 2002.
The new entry also extends a long-running connection between Beenie Man and the US music market. The deejay has worked with major American and international artists throughout his career, and “For You” places him alongside Snoop Dogg on a record built around a broader dancehall and hip-hop crossover.
The collaboration was released in July and features additional Jamaican and Caribbean artists, including Elephant Man, D’Yani, Tifa, Shaneil Muir, Vanessa Bling, Stefflon Don, Kraff and Pamputtae.
“For You” is also included on Beenie Man’s latest album, Eminence, which was released in August through Billboard King Records.
Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart tracks songs according to radio-airplay detections from rhythmic-format stations, making the No. 39 debut a measure of the song’s activity across that US radio format.
The chart appearance comes during another active period in Beenie Man’s career. Earlier this month, the veteran deejay also released “Brawdah” with producer and engineer Rorey Baker, adding another new release to his current run of music.
For “For You”, the No. 39 debut provides an early position on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, with its subsequent performance now set to determine whether the collaboration can move higher in the coming weeks.
After two decades away from the ranking, Beenie Man is back on Billboard radio charts — this time with Snoop Dogg and a new generation of Jamaican collaborators helping carry the record into the US market.
