Junior Reid has followed a run of new projects with “Cool Breeze Blowing”, the latest single from the Jamaican reggae veteran.
Released on 26 September, the song arrives during one of Reid’s most productive periods in recent years. The single follows two albums issued earlier in 2026: Listen To the Voices, released in May, and Junior Reid & The Bloods, which followed in June.
Rather than looking back solely at the catalogue that established him, Reid’s recent output has kept him active in the present-day reggae landscape. His 2026 releases have added new material to a body of work that stretches across several decades.
Reid first gained wider attention as the lead singer of Black Uhuru before establishing a solo career. His later work produced songs including One Blood and collaborations that carried his reggae sound to audiences beyond Jamaica.
The latest single arrives alongside renewed interest in Reid’s earlier work. Bounty Killer recently marked the 30th anniversary of Change Like The Weather, a recording associated with Reid and Busta Rhymes, bringing another part of his musical history back into focus.
For Reid, however, the current period is less about revisiting the past than continuing to record. Cool Breeze Blowing adds another release to a year that has already seen him put out a substantial amount of new music.
At a time when reggae continues to draw on its history while making room for new generations of artists, Reid remains a link between those eras – using a career built over decades while continuing to release music of his own.
