The rapper will cover four years of tuition for an incoming student at Long Island University’s Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment
A$AP Rocky is funding a full-tuition scholarship for an incoming student at Long Island University’s Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment, extending his involvement in an institution created to prepare students for careers across the entertainment industry.
The scholarship will cover four years of tuition for one first-time freshman beginning at the Brooklyn school in fall 2027. Applications are open until 15 December 2026.
Rocky said the opportunity was intended to help a young person develop an idea into a viable career.
“I’m a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same,” he said in announcing the scholarship. “Turn that vision into something real.”
The Roc Nation School was established in 2021 through a partnership between Long Island University and Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z. The school offers programmes focused on the business and creative infrastructure surrounding music, sports and entertainment, areas that increasingly extend beyond performance into management, production, entrepreneurship and media.
For students seeking careers in those fields, the cost of higher education can present a significant barrier before they have had an opportunity to establish themselves professionally. A full-tuition award therefore offers more than recognition: it removes one of the most immediate financial obstacles facing an aspiring entrant to the industry.
Rocky’s scholarship also places him within a broader network of artists and entertainment figures who have contributed to scholarship opportunities at the school. The institution has previously received support from figures including DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion and others working across music and sport.
The rapper has long occupied several roles within the entertainment business beyond recording. His work as an artist has been accompanied by interests in fashion, design and entrepreneurship, making the scholarship consistent with an industry in which creative careers increasingly cross traditional boundaries.
The Roc Nation School was created around that changing landscape. Rather than concentrating solely on performers, its programmes are aimed at students interested in the machinery behind the entertainment business – from creative development and production to management and commercial strategy.
The recipient of Rocky’s scholarship will enter that environment in 2027 with tuition covered for the duration of a four-year undergraduate programme.
For the student selected, the significance may ultimately be less about the name attached to the scholarship than what it makes possible: four years in which an ambition that might otherwise remain out of reach can be developed into a professional future.
