Trinidadian artist Paris Coutain has spent 2026 expanding his presence across soca and chutney soca, while using a growing run of releases and live appearances to develop a broader musical identity.
Coutain began the year with two contrasting releases: the smooth soca track “Brush” and the chutney-soca song “Magic in the Air”. “Brush” was produced by Richard Gosine, mixed and mastered by Nikholai Greene, and written by Coutain alongside Emmanuel Rudder and Yohann Niles. “Magic in the Air” was produced by Motto on the Soca Love Story Riddim.
The releases reflected Coutain’s stated approach to his career. In a January interview with Trinidad and Tobago Newsday, he said he did not want to confine himself to one genre and described versatility as an important part of his artistic goals. He also identified international ambitions that include exploring pop, R&B and hip-hop.
Coutain’s connection to Trinidad’s competition circuit has been part of his development. Newsday reported that he won the Mr NGC Sanfest title in 2019 before taking the Junior Chutney Soca Monarch crown in 2020. He subsequently competed in the Intellectual Chutney Monarch and Ultimate Soca Champion competitions.
His 2026 campaign also brought a collaboration with one of Trinidad’s most established soca performers.
Coutain appears alongside Machel Montano and producer Travis World on “Move Out D Way”, which was entered into Trinidad and Tobago’s 2026 National Road March competition. The song received four plays at the designated judging points during Carnival, according to the published Road March results.
The collaboration also featured during Montano’s performance at the Xperience event at Skinner Park in San Fernando in January, where Montano performed “Move Out D Way” with Coutain. Newsday documented the performance as part of the Carnival event.
Coutain continued releasing music beyond the Carnival season.
In July, he released “Beat It”, produced by Bing Bang Studioz and Studio Impact on the Rose Riddim. The release was accompanied by a visualizer directed by OLSTP.
Streaming listings identify “Beat It” as a July 4, 2026 release and list it alongside other 2026 releases including “FREEDOM”, “Move Out D Way” and “Magic in the Air”.
The run of releases follows a career that Coutain has developed through both music and performance. His formal training includes a bachelor’s degree in performing arts from the University of Trinidad and Tobago, which he completed in 2024, according to Newsday.
He has also built an audience through social media, where Newsday reported in January that his TikTok following had surpassed 164,000. His online work has included both comedy skits and musical content.
For Coutain, that combination of music, performance and digital content has provided a platform for continuing to experiment with different sides of Trinidadian popular music.
With “Brush”, “Magic in the Air”, “Move Out D Way” and “Beat It” arriving across the year, his 2026 catalogue shows an artist moving between different Caribbean sounds rather than limiting his work to a single musical lane.
As the year continues, Coutain’s next releases will add another chapter to a career that is increasingly being built around versatility and performance.
