Doejay Builds on Barbados Breakthrough With New Music and Major Festival Appearances

Barbadian artist Doejay is continuing an active 2026 campaign with new music and major live appearances, as the young performer establishes himself within a new generation of artists reshaping the island’s contemporary sound.

Doejay’s latest recorded work includes “2 BAD (JA REMIX)”, released in 2026, following his B2M project. His catalogue has also included “Bartender,” the 2025 collaboration with Quon and Harv that helped raise his profile during the Crop Over season.

His momentum carried into this year’s festival circuit.

At TMF Beach 2026 in July, Doejay opened the live performances at Copacabana Beach Club in St Michael, performing “Good Better Best” and “2 Bad.” The response from the audience led DJ Jus Jay to bring him back onto the stage for a performance of “Bartender.”

The appearance placed Doejay alongside a broader lineup of contemporary Bajan performers, including Lastacia, Jagwa De Champ, Leadpipe & Saddis and Jordan English, highlighting the increasingly visible role of younger artists within Barbados’ live music industry.

Doejay’s 2026 activity follows a breakthrough during the 2025 Crop Over season, when “Bartender” — recorded with Quon and Harv — earned a runner-up position in the People’s Monarch competition. The performance helped establish the track as an important early marker in his career.

His debut album, B2M, has since become another part of that progression. A profile published by Sessions in April reported that the project had reached No. 1 in Barbados at the time, while describing the album as a project centred on coming of age and personal experiences.

Rather than remaining tied to a single Crop Over moment, Doejay has continued releasing music and appearing on major local stages.

That activity comes as Barbados’ younger music scene increasingly moves across traditional genre boundaries, with dancehall, soca, hip-hop and R&B influences appearing throughout the work of emerging artists.

For Doejay, the next stage will be measured by whether the momentum generated by B2M, “Bartender” and his recent live performances can translate into a sustained presence beyond the Crop Over season.

For now, his release schedule and continued appearances suggest that Doejay remains firmly in the conversation around the next generation of Bajan music.
